You can try. It would be nice if it was a contract between the 2 of them. The lease is the owner, are not covered by the agreement between the 2 of them.

You can make money in small claims court. Until you have a copy of the lease and proof that you have paid. First, send the person a bill that has paid for his shares to pay them the opportunity to bring them to justice.
